Wedding Trend: Colors for Fall 2014

Radiant Orchid is the 2014 color of the year and we have already seen it splashed all over blogs and inspiration boards. But how best could you use this bright color in the fall? Last month the Pantone Fall 2014 Color Report came out with a few answers.

If you are in the midst of planning your fall wedding, Pantone has chosen the colors that will dominate the color schemes. You will be sure to see them everywhere from linens to bridesmaids dresses. The colors are: Royal Blue, Aluminum, Aurora Red, Misted Yellow, Sangria, Mauve Mist, Cognac, Bright Cobalt, and Cypress.

Celebrities seem to be liking the Radiant Orchid. Many have been spotted in casual to formal outfits of Radiant Orchid; including my favorite, Kristen Bell, and the two below - Kelly Osbourne and Amy Adams.

But if you aren't choosing the color of the year for your wedding dress or your bridesmaids, how else can you incorporate it? And how can you mix the variety of unique colors?

Your flowers are an easy and beautiful place to start. For example, these Aurora Red orchids and Radiant Orchid calla lilies. Or try a combination of flowers with Sangria and Bright Cobalt accents, like this bouquet of dahlias, mini calla lilies, roses, carnations, and bi-color dendrobium orchids.

A bit too wild for you? Cognac, Misted Yellow, and Cypress (brown, yellow, and green) not only scream "fall," but add in a touch of white, and you have the perfect combination for a simple, soft centerpiece.

Or, why not mix the palette together?

Aluminum table linen, mauve mist bouquet, royal blue bridesmaid dress, sangria colored dessert.

What's your favorite fall color from the Pantone?  Will you be using one or a combination in your wedding?

Unique Wedding Dress Options

Last weekend I was talking to a newly engaged friend who really wants a black wedding dress, but her mom isn't quite into it. Personally, I chose a traditional gown for my wedding, but I love the idea! And a black wedding dress fits her personality perfectly. Make sure your wedding dress screams you! Haven't thought about an alternative dress? Something unique, that's not pure white? Well here are some ideas.

Traditional white with a touch of black

Black Gowns

Bustier Gowns

Red Gowns

Gowns with a Cape

Floral Gowns

Blue Gowns

Shades of Pink

These are just some ideas. In reality, it's your wedding / your day. You can wear whatever you want to. Whether it's a uniquely colored dress, a white gown, a tux, jeans and a t-shirt, whatever makes you comfortable. But we are curious! So let us know, what would you choose? Already married? Say you could do it over and wear something new. Decided to stay traditional? Pretend tradition is the nontraditional - then what would you pick?
